LGBTQIA+ Gender Affirming Therapy
Affirming therapy that supports you in navigating identity, relationships, and mental health in a space
where you are respected, understood, and not required to explain who you are.

Feel supported in who you are
LGBTQIA+ individuals may face subtle stressors in their everyday lives, which heteronormative people may not experience. Perhaps you are struggling with your sexual or gender identity and need a safe, supportive space to explore those aspects of your life. Some clients may also want to discuss how growing up in a religious home can leave lasting feelings of guilt or shame, even if they no longer identify as religious. If you have been looking for an LGBTQIA+ and gender-affirming therapist, you are in the right place.
I’m Blanca Kleinfall, an openly bisexual therapist who is deeply committed to supporting members of the queer community. My approach to therapy is affirming and centered on helping you navigate how your gender and sexual identity may influence your relationships, well-being, and overall mental health. This is a space where you can feel respected, understood, and supported without the need to justify or explain who you are. As part of therapy, we make space to unpack these experiences, strengthen your sense of self, and support your mental health and identity so you feel valid and stable.

Does this sound familiar?
Navigating identity, relationships, and daily life as part of the LGBTQIA+ community can feel heavier when you don’t always feel fully seen or understood.
- Feeling the need to explain or defend your identity
- Experiencing anxiety or tension in family or social spaces
- Carrying fear of rejection or misunderstanding
- Questioning your sense of belonging
- Struggling with self-acceptance despite knowing who you are
- Feeling emotionally exhausted from navigating non-affirming environments

Affirming therapy for you
Therapy provides a space where you don’t have to filter or defend who you are. It allows you to explore identity, relationships, stress, and emotional challenges with steady support. Some LGBTQIA+ people live their lives authentically, open, and proud, but perhaps you have experienced past traumas and hardships due to your sexual identity. Therapy involves exploring how your sexual identity has shaped your life and experiences. Together, we can focus on building resilience and confidence in your identity while also working toward creating an authentic, supportive, and accepting community around you.

Frequently asked questions
Do you provide in-person sessions?
No, I am virtual-only, which allows me to see anyone in the entire state of Texas. I use a secure HIPAA-compliant EHR platform called Simple Practice for our video calls.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I accept insurance. I work with a billing company called Alma. You will have to visit the portal and upload your documents. Next, they will verify your insurance and notify you about the expected price.
You can learn more information about which insurances are accepted here: Rates and Insurance
Do I have to be fully certain about my identity before starting therapy?
No. A lot of individuals attend therapy when they are still in the process of discovery or doubt about their identity. Sessions offer a platform to reflect, ask questions, and get to know your emotions without the hassle of reaching conclusions quickly.
How do I know if LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy is right for me?
If you are feeling exhausted by having your identity overlooked or misunderstood, affirming therapy can provide a space where you do not have to explain or defend who you are. It allows you to speak openly about experiences that may feel difficult to share in other environments, without fear of judgment.
Can therapy help if my family or community does not support my identity?
Yes. Through therapy, you can process those experiences, create emotional strength, and develop ways of setting healthy boundaries with people who do not understand or validate your identity without damaging your wellbeing and sense of self.
What if I feel anxious about talking about my identity?
That is very common. During the initial sessions, a number of people experience nervousness. We will proceed at a slow pace, and you are never expected to tell more than you are prepared to talk about.
Can therapy help with internalized shame or self-doubt?
Yes. Therapy can enable you to realize the origin of such feelings and slowly develop a more loving and assured relationship with yourself.
Do I need therapy even if I already have supportive friends or a community?
Supportive relationships are valuable, yet therapy will offer a confidential environment to talk about deeper feelings, patterns, and what you want to achieve that might be difficult to discuss elsewhere.
How do I begin LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy?
You can begin with a brief consultation in which we discuss your expectations of therapy, what support you are looking for, and whether working together feels like the right fit.
