Culturally Competent Therapy

Offering supportive counseling to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds who want a space where their identity,
experiences, and cultural influences are understood and respected.

A space where you don’t have to explain your culture

I have personal experience of living between cultures as a Mexican American therapist who came to the United States undocumented at age 2. I eventually became a citizen in my early 20s. Lots of individuals are raised under the pressure of both being “American” while still holding onto the traditions and the expectations of their culture.

I offer you a space where you don’t have to translate your experiences or explain every cultural reference. Therapy becomes a place where you can simply show up as yourself.

Support that honors your cultural experiences–schedule a free 15-minute consultation

Cultural identity may influence how we experience emotions, our relationships, and even our expectations. Therapy is an opportunity to discuss those influences openly and create a better vision of yourself and your personal needs.

How I help my clients

Many clients tell me that working with a therapist of color feels different. When someone already understands the cultural experiences, it means you don’t need to spend time explaining why some things matter so deeply.

I was raised in an environment where therapy was rarely discussed, so I know how bold a person can be to seek help. Most people are raised to live with their burdens without speaking out and carrying on their struggle. With a culturally competent therapist, you can experience relief from judgment of needing to go to therapy.

During our sessions, we establish room to address the pressures, expectations, and experiences that may have shaped your life whilst assisting you to progress more clearly with self-compassion and a culturally focused approach.

What to expect

Psychoeducation

We use educational material to learn about the how and why behind your feelings while learning grounding and soothing techniques to help you lower your stress levels and stay in the moment.

Culturally affirming informed therapy

We explore ways to manage stress, pressure, and emotional challenges that may arise from cultural expectations or life transitions.

Practical strategies

Sessions include tools that help you navigate relationships, boundaries, and personal goals while honoring your cultural values.

Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to part ways, but she is amazing. I would say out of the 7 or 8 therapist i've worked with in my lifetime she has been the most successful in helping me and educating me ✨

Blanca has helped me a lot with my issues. I feel so much better talking to her without having to worry about being judged or being talked down to. She truly tries her best to understand you and your background and will adjust treatment plans based on how you react to them. Will definitely go to her again once I need her for other issues that come about. Super grateful!

After seeing a few therapists who told me I wasn’t responding the way I should to their methods, I found Blanca, and everything changed. She’s more than just a therapist — she’s become a true friend in my life. Blanca is a progressive therapist who’s all about keeping it real. Her guidance feels like a breath of fresh air in 2024, with advice that’s practical, relevant, and deeply grounded in today’s world. She’s incredibly honest, never sugar-coating what needs to be heard, yet always delivering it with genuine kindness that shows how much she truly cares. Blanca’s approach is what the modern person needs — refreshing and forward-thinking, and she has a way of making everything click. I always leave our sessions feeling seen, supported, and ready to face whatever life throws my way. If you’re looking for someone who truly listens, keeps it real, and makes a lasting impact, Blanca is the one. I can’t recommend her enough!

I absolutely loved working with Blanca. I would recommend her to anyone looking to do EMDR. She was always very patient, and kind. She pushes you just enough when you need it and other times let you talk and just be.

I was feeling intimidated by the idea of finding a new therapist. After issues with my previous therapist, the idea of baring my soul to someone else I didn’t know did not sit well with me. Thankfully, Blanca has been an incredible source of wisdom, comfort, and support. She has become one of my safe spaces where I can truly open up and reveal my tangle of emotions as well as my difficult life experiences without feeling judged. She has shown me new perspectives and techniques that are helping me to cope and to heal. I feel like I have made significant progress and I am hopeful about where our continued sessions will lead.
